At Mancharara, we operate with transparency, integrity, and genuine care for our clients. We are proud to support financial inclusion and contribute to the growth of our local economy.

The name “Mancharara” comes from a small, light-green, almost spherical fruit of the Motsêbê tree, (Motsibi, Setswana or Feverberry, English) — scientifically known as Croton megalobotrys — commonly found in the Okavango Swamps. Many of us grew up playing with this mysterious fruit, though we never dared taste it because it was believed to be poisonous. Interestingly, research at the University of Botswana found that extracts from the tree show promising anti-malaria healing properties. The fruit can also be used as a biofuel with lower emissions than diesel. Birds love the tree's flowers — but even they seem to avoid the fruit!.No other animals eat the Motsebe fruit or seeds.

So no… the forbidden fruit was not an apple. Around here, it was Mancharara fruit.

Even though we call ourselves the "feverberry" company, the locals still affectionately call us machararara ♥
